Listening: Song that I have been loving of late has been this one 'Learn to Love again' by Lawson

Eating: Today I have really been craving watermelon... this is something I don't think that I have ever really craved before... but tomorrow I am going to go and buy a nice big one.

Drinking: Lately I have been addicted to two things, first one is water- this has been more so a large craving since moving to Brisbane, I can thank the hotter weather here for that one. The other drink is hot drinks, this has along really been in the past week, I do love my hot chocolate and herbal fruit teas. before I can having a tea though I do need to invest in a kettle.

Wearing: A recent purchase of mine has been my favourite thing to wear with pretty much every outfit has been my pocket watch necklace: here & here

Feeling: Frustrated. I am over not being able to do much with my wrist. That it get's worn out, sore, then painful soon afterwards. I am going to give treatment with my physio one more week, then I'll listen to my GP and head off to see a orthopaedic surgeon.

Weather: Finally the weather here in Brisbane has improved. After about what seems like about a month of rainy yucky cloudy days, today was clear skies, and bright sunshine.  Looking forward to winter though, I do like curling up on a cold winters day.

Wanting: Two things at the moment... I would love for my holidays to come sooner, and for me to get my blogging groove back... to do this though I would help if I got my butt into gear and actually hooked up the internet here rather than relying on the same amount of internet I have on my phone.

Needing: To get my butt into gear when it comes to fitness, I would really love to be able to run again, I miss running, it's the best way to clear your mind. And when my wrist is better I want to be able to box again, I love sparring, it's a good way to take out your frustrations.

Thinking: That as you can tell by the sparring and running that I really need to clear my head at the moment and to get my thinking right, over the past month and a half I have really struggled with my anxiety and panic attacks. *if you have never had a panic attack... think yourself extremely lucky!

Enjoying: The other week I purchased a couple of new books written by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Yesterday I started to read 'Broken Things To Mend' and wow, I have only read a couple of pages but he is an amazing author, if you have ever heard any other he's talks you can understand just how powerful of a speaker he is. I LOVE his books and can't wait to read more!

It is crazy how fast this year seems to be speeding past.

This month I aim to make up to you my slack blogging of last month by blogging every day this month.
I have lots of new ideas so please stay tuned!

I am also aiming to take more photos.
And to also post a quote each day.
I have always had a love of quotes and photos,
But kinda lost that interest for a little while.
Now thanks to my addiction to Pinterest and Instagram,
My love is back to normal!
If you would like to keep up to date with these posts check them out on Instagram.
I will be posting the quotes onto the blog as well every now and again.

Lot's planned for the month,
Looking forward to everything!

*Reflecting on life and what I want for my future

This month has been a bit of a roller coaster,
This whole past month has been pretty busy,
But through out all of the highs and lows that have happened this month,
I have learnt so much,
I have been able to take a moment at times through out the busy parts of life,
To take the time to think about what I really want.
To clear my thoughts, to sort through the jumbled mess.

Let me share with you a couple of my thoughts...
*I am grateful for friends that know me so well and care about me so much that they can tell when things are off with me and know when I really need a person to be there with the tub of ice cream on a bad day.
*I am grateful for the trials that I have in my life, I have learnt so much from each and every one that comes along. I may not like them at that point in time, but looking back I see the reasons to why I needed to endure through each one.
*It is not easy to have faith, especially to have faith in the Lord's timing.
*I love long conversations with friends, they help me to see things clearer.
*I am lucky to have the close relationship that I have with my parents.
*I look forward to the plans for my future, it won't be easy to achieve them but they sure will be worth it.

Join me for the ride in July...

Cooking Up A Storm...

Tonight I had a very productive evening!
Last night I planned a few meals that I wanted to cook and eat over the next two weeks.
Tonight I was determined to make all the meals up so that I could freeze them.
That way I would just pull them out when I want to eat them
Home cook meals at hand when I want a quick meal.

To start off with I create a list of the meals...

Then the fun began...

The results...
All of the meals except for the meat patties,
I had never made before,
But I am happy to report they all turned out perfect,
So yummy.
My favourites were the Wholemeal muffins with raspberries and dark chocolate.
I used a Donna Hay recipe,
And just made some alterations to the recipe.
Oh so good, especially when they are fresh!!

Overall a very good cooking evening!

I like doing the big cook ups,
It means that I am organised,
That I am less likely to eat junk food if I know that a meal is already to eat.
I know that it is healthy, and I know what is in it.
Rather than a store brought food or a frozen meal.

I am looking forward to more cook ups in the future,
I look forward to educating myself on difference ways I can alter a recipe to make it healthier.
I look forward to trying new thing in the future,
And becoming more organised.

3 Years...

Three years certainly does go quickly, I am truly amazed by how life can go by so quickly and how life can change.
I am excited to be celebrating 3 year since the day I decided to change. Since the day that I quit smoking, that I turned my heart back to the Lord.
I am so grateful for the choices that I made on this day three years ago. It was the best choice that I have made in my life so far!

Through out the past three years I have had a number of trials that have attempted to set me back in life, with help I have been able to cover come. That doesn't mean that they were easy or that they past quickly.
I am grateful for the trials that I have gone through, and for the trials that I still go through. They have made me who I am today.

Over the past two years one of the biggest trials I have had to go through is physical. At times it seems like everything was going wrong one thing after another. At times there have been tears and anger and at other times I have been determined not to let it beat me, because I know deep down that I am strong enough to get myself through any trial if I put my mind to it.

Over the past two years I have injured my back, knees and foot. Back in January 2010 I developed what is called plantar fasciitis, it is painful inflammation in the muscle that runs along the bottom of the foot from the heal to the toes. The inflammation is due to tears in that muscle. My podiatrist said to me last month that most who have Plantar Fasciitis can be treated and recover within a few months, 1 out of 10 people have severe painful plantar fasciitis. I am lucky enough to be one of those 1 in 10. Yay for me! After spending thousands of dollars on difference treatments, new shoes, orthotics, steroid injections, it seems that it may talk some more patience and crossed fingers to heal this injury.
There are day when I have good days, when my foot feels like a normal foot. But then there are bad days, when every step will bring me to tears, when it's too painful to even walk. But some how, with a huge amount help from the man upstairs, and a lot of patience I get through the day.

As I mentioned before, I seemed to break a lot over the last 2 years. One thing after another would go wrong. Just under 2 years ago I injured my back, I had 6 bulging disks, after a number of tests they discovered that I had suffered a large amount of degeneration to the spine, to which was also causing a lot of pain. Thanks to a high amount of painkillers, strapping tape, physiotherapist and a chiropractor, I have finally got my back to a stage that I can deal with the pain, ever month I have a date with my no too bad looking chiropractor who cracks me back and keeps me all alined. Now most days I feel pretty good, with only a few really bad days.

Along with a few other smaller problems, and a few that were harder, they were my two biggest physical trials, they were the ones that brought me to breaking point so many times. That cause a lot of tears. But now that I some what have got a control over them, I look back on the trials as a blessing. I have learn lots from the trials, I have learnt how to be patient, how to question what I am told, how to trust my "gut" feeling, how to admit I need help, I have increase my pain tolerance, and learnt how to see the good in my trials.

Another big trial that I have come to face over the past three years is to love myself again. After the events of my ex, I have gone from a bubbly, fun, happy, confident girl to a shy girl with low self esteem and low self worth. Over the past two years more so I have worked a lot on myself. Over time I have not really noticed the differences in myself, but now looking back to where I have come, I know that I have grown as a person, and slowly I am getting back to a part of who I used to be, but more so I am becoming better than I have ever been!

My current goal at the moment that will help with all the trials that I am going through is losing the weight that I have put on over the past 5 years. The goal is to lose 30-40kgs. It's not easy, it takes a lot of hard work at the gym but also educating and restraining myself when it comes to food. But I am getting there, I have already lost 8kg this year, and I and determined to lose the rest!!!

It is interesting, over the past month I have been asked a few times what I want for my future, what does the future hold for me in Tasmania, and some people have question why I still am in Tasmania, thinking that I had just been waiting around for something. But Tasmania is where I have needed to be over the past two years especially. Within myself I didn't think that my time was up in Tasmania, I felt that there was still a reason for me to be here. And I am so glad that I am still here. It has been a great blessing, with all the physical challenges that I have gone through I have been very blessed to have the support of my parents, I have had the support of a amazing bishop. It wasn't my time to leave.
Over the past few weeks after a comment a friend made to me, I start to question if I had been wrong, if I should have left already, was I just putting my life on hold or wasting my time.
Well my bishop actually help me with what I was thinking, he turned around to me on sunday after having a quick chat, he said one sentence that I really needed to hear.
"Jess, there is a reason your still here."
Such a simple statement, hit me hard in my heart and soul. It answered the question that I had had in my heart for the past few weeks.

So to the friend that questioned why I was still in Tasmania.... I am here for so much more than think. I needed to be here to grow the friendship between me and my parents, to develop my skills in my career so that when I move, I will move to a better job. I needed to be here to grow my testimony, I needed to be here to grow strong, to get to know myself, to realise just how strong I am standing on my own two feet with out something to lean on. I have to be here for those that I love, for friends that have been there for me before.
You may thing that I have been here for other reasons. You have never been so far from the truth. It seems we don't really know each other any more. But know one thing... I am the happiest I have been n years. Thank you friend.

This chapter in my life is slowly closing, I am excited to see what the future has install for me, things are slowly falling into place, and the feeling of peace that I have reassures me that what the future is bring me is right where I need to be!

I am grateful for my past, for every trial, for every person that has left a footprint in my life, I am who I am today before of it. Thank you!

A Woman's Heart Is Full Of Mysteries...

On this blog, and in life, I tend to shut people out, censor what I say to people. I never let any people get to know the really me. I can count on one hand those people in life that know me for who I really am, the good and the dark side to me. They know my secrets and my faults.

I don't like it that I put up a brick walls. I even do it to those that are closest to me. I put up brick walls so fast if I think for a second that I am going to get hurt. I just shut people out.

I want to learn to open up to people. But to be able to do this it is going to take small steps, no matter the setbacks. The first step that I am going to do is to open up more on this blog. I would like those who take the time to read my blog to be given the chance to get to know me.

I think one of the hardest parts about that is sometimes forgetting who is actually reading this and to just write, to express myself. But before I do that, there is one thing I would like to say to all you that read this blog of mine, thank you for taking a moment to stop by my blog, to read the post that I have put time and effort into.

This song has been the inspiration to my post; one of the main lines in the song is...
"Everyone has a dark side"
To me my dark side is something that came about 5 years ago and that I have battled with every day since.

Six years ago my life was very different to what it is now. I was engaged and living with someone that I thought I was head over heals in love with, that there could be no other man that I would love as much as him. We had been together for a year and a half. Our relationship wasn't perfect but whose was? About six months before he proposed to me, I actually left him; he had cheated on me with someone he hardly knew. But after him turning on his charm and promising he would change I took him back.

When he proposed we were in a really good place, for a few months we had been working hard on our relationship and I thought I was happy. At the time I also thought that I was excited about being engaged. I had done what any girl in that position would of done, celebrated with friends, told the parents, brought the wedding magazines etc.

But it wasn't till one day with my mother sitting behind me while I stood in from of mirror looking back at myself in a gorgeous wedding dress did I realise that I could not marry this man, that I could not picture my future with him, and that the thought of spending the rest of my life with him had me sick. I realised that I didn't trust him, and no matter how hard we worked on the relationship the trust was broken and that could never be fixed.

After having this realisation it took me about one and a half months to get up the courage to call off the engagement and the relationship. It then took about another 2 weeks to move out of the house that I shared with him.

The coming 4 months after that was kind of a adrenaline rush, there was so many things that I had to do to cut ties with him, to get him out of my life, to cut the contact that he had with me. It took me changing my phone number and moving to the other side of the state to finally get him away from me.

I transferred with my work and moved into a house with friends. Life it seemed was good and back to normal. Then I crashed. I put blocks up with those who I was friends with, treated them badly, and took leave from my work.

About 3 months after moving, my life got to the lowest it has ever been. I was living by myself in an apartment cut off from family and friends. I felt as if I couldn't function or think. I had changed from a girl that was super social, out going, bubbly. To a girl that couldn't go out to a shopping centre cause it was too crowded.

I was suffering with four things- insomnia, depression, anxiety/panic attacks, and migraines.
At times there would be days where I would be suffering from crippling migraines and having had no sleep for 2-3 days. Times when the panic attacks were so bad I would have to sit myself under a cold shower for a half an hour to an hour to try and calm myself down.

My doctors wanted to put me onto medication, but I had seen what that type of medication did to people, yes it did help them, but they would have to stay of it for so many years, and I didn't want to rely on medication. I wanted to be in control of my moods and me.

I was determined to not rely on medication. It took me about 3 months to come to that decision, that I wanted to be in control of me. Once I had made that decision, I started to fight for it. After being low for so long it was an up hill battle, a battle that I still have to fight from day to day. Some days I have really good days, other days I feel like I have taken 5000 steps backwards.

Over the past four years I have been lucky enough to get to the point where I rarely suffer from insomnia. When it does spike I know what to do to overcome it. The same thing for my depression and anxiety/panic attacks.

The hardest part I find is being vigilant of my moods, behaviours and thoughts. If my stress levels get too high things play up. I have learnt things that I can put into place to get things back under control.

Some of the things that I do to help control them are...
-Running: Before I hurt my back and foot I used to love to run to relieve the stress, to clear my thoughts.
-Listen to music: This is one of my main and favourite ones. I turn the music up to block out the negative thoughts, to try and stop the thinking all together.
-Reading: I love to read, it's like I can escape this life to another world, forget my worries and for a moment image that I am someone else and that I am living the dream of the book.
-Walking: Going for long walks, get out into nature. It's an amazing world when you stop and look around.
-Journal: write everything down, get your thoughts out of your head and on to paper, it can help you sit back and look at it differently if it is on paper.
-Talk about things with a close friend or family member. It doesn't help if you keep things bottled up. I use my mum when I need to rant and get things out and when I need advice.
-Pamper yourself: Take a moment to relax, have a bubble bath, paint your nails, go have a massage, buy fresh flowers.
-House work: It releases energy and when you turn around after finishing you will be proud of what you achieved. And it also means one less thing to stress about.

No matter what ever it may be, the important thing is to find something that helps you to lower your stress levels, cause I find that stress is the worse enemies for me, it triggers so many other things.

Looking back over my life, I do not regret a single thing, sure I wish that I would have done things differently, but then I wouldn't be the person that I am today. I know that I will never be 100% free from depression or anxiety, but I am stronger then I have ever been. I know that I will have bad days ahead of me, but I also know that no matter what is thrown at me I can over come it. If I can pull myself out of the lowest point in my life, I know that I can overcome anything. I am not going to take a huge step back to that dark side for anything, and for no one. I am happier than I have been in years, and it's not because of a boy or anything else, it is cause I have worked hard for it.

I am determined to enjoy life, to get the most out of it that I can. I have so many things that I want to improve upon, but I am taking small steps every day to achieve though things.

If you suffer from depression or anxiety, please know that you are not alone and that it can get better. There are so many people around you ready to help you just need to ask. It will take a lot of work but you can do it! You are stronger than you know, you just need to believe in yourself.

What Would You Do For Love??

Last day of holidays was pretty great!
Even though the list of things that I wanted to get done didn't really get done, I still have this weekend to achieve those thing!
And I am determined to get them done!

Tonight me and a friend discovered a AMAZING restaurant.
So good that we booked the same table to go back to in a fortnights time.

You know the feeling that you get when you try a new restaurant.
You have the hope of something amazing,
You have your hopes set high.
Well this location did not let us down!
The service.... fantastic!
The food... Mouth watering heavenly goodness!
Add great conversation and it was a awesome dinner.
Seriously good food!
My mouth is watering just looking at the picture and knowing that I will be back there in a fortnight!

Following the amazing dinner we headed off to see the movie 'The Vow'
This movie is amazing.
If i wasn't in fit of laughter at one of my friend who was crying, pretty much from the start of the movie, then I would have been crying too!
(When I said crying, I mean endless tears running down her face, seriously it was HILARIOUS!)
This movie was filled with laughter and tears, you couldn't help but feel it tug on your heart strings.
How determined her must be and how much strength and love he must have for her.
I can only hope that I have that much love for my future husband and him for me.

What would you do for love?

My favourite parts of the movie was when he was singing Meatloaf to her in the car, the box that he give her when he is sick, and how much fun they have in the relationship.

I'll admit it...
I AM A HOPELESS ROMANTIC!!

If you have not seem this movie,
Then GO AND SEE IT NOW!
Trust me it will be worth it.

***Also take tissues... if you don't need them, your friend will!
**P.S... Channing is HOT!!**

Have A Great Day...

Lately in life I have started to kinda enjoy look over my life,
And assessing what I can improve,
What I need to change,
What I want,
Adjusting my goals so that I am able to achieve those things.

I am truely luck to have some very supportive people in my life.
That pick me up when I am down,
That make me believe that my dreams are possible.
And that I am fully capable of achieving anything that I put my mind to.

"Sometime I believe as many as 6 impossible things before breakfast"
-Alice in wonderland.

What you think is impossible now in your life,
Won't be impossible tomorrow, or next week.
All we need to do is have the ABC...
Attitude
Belief
Courage

Today is the start of a fresh week,,
Start of a new day,
Yesterday is gone,
Have a great day!

So each day I promise to strive to improve my life,
To create the life that I currently think is impossible,
To put in all my energy to achieve the life that I want,
To settle for nothing less than an extraordinary life,
And to enjoy every step along the way!
And NEVER regret a single moment!

Life of Learning...

Each day is a new day,
Everyday I want to set out to learn some thing new,
To experience something new,
To meet someone new.

I first got introduced to Rick Mereki's videos on Kelsie's blog last year,
And now absolutely loves them.
This is one of a set of three...
The other two are Eat and Move.

Enjoy...

Weekend Adventure...

Another weekend has been and gone
This weekend's main adventure was camping...

Now I have been camping before but not for the past 10 years...
I didn't really know if I would enjoy the experience,
But I thought that I would at least give it one go.

So here are my thoughts on camping...

PROS:
*Relaxing
*Nature
*Random conversations
*BBQs
*Laughter
*Friends
*Falling asleep to the sounds to the waves
*Camp fires: building a nice big campfire pit
*Friendly fellow campers, especially the ones that offer us some of their freshly caught fish
*Beaches: swimming in the ocean for the first time in about 8 years
*Sleeping in tents: This reminds me of my childhood, and camping in the back yard in tents with my brothers and sisters.

CONS:
*I can't cook potatoes in a fire.
*Bugs and spiders
*Mosquitoes: hate them with a passion!
*Rocks... climbing over rocks bare foot in search for a better beach... just tell Kat NO!
*Sand... it's great to walk on, but then when your wet it gets everywhere.
*Freezing cold ocean, little bit warmer would have been great.
*Smoke: coming home feeling like camp fire smoke.
*No Showers, oh how I really wish we had a shower.
*Drop Toilets... they stink and when people tell you never to look down... trust them 110%... NEVER LOOK DOWN! Hello nightmares for weeks!

Do Again:
*Take Ipod player
*Go swimming
*Make a big breakfast (Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, tomatoes)
*Take Kat's Dad's car again... it has a fridge
*Make the drive fun... beat... 50+ waves, 5 head nods, 1 thumbs up, 1 smile, 1 beer up.
*Take a first aid kit... Kat will need it again.
*Be nice to fellow campers!
*East Coast of Tasmania is the best place to camp.

Things To Remember For Next Time:
*Take more water
*Try not to go in school holidays, there are so many people camping around that time.
*Bring heaps more friends.
*When Kat says the ocean is not that cold... it's cause she can no longer feel her legs due to the freezing water.
*Try not to smoke out the neighbouring campers... take notice of the wind direction before setting up a campfire.
*Hammer... rocks work but not as easy and as well as a hammer
*Firewood... Easier and safer then big branches
*Camping shower... oh how that would have been nice
*Camping mattress... sleeping with a yoga mat and a sleeping bag between you and the ground is not always comfortable.
*Card games & Board games... good way to pass the time.
*Hammock... that would have been so relaxing.
*NEVER LOOK DOWN!!!

Would I go camping again...
YES!

So any advice for me??

30 Day Challenge...

It's the start of a new year!
A few of the things that I am focusing on this year is...
*Improvement
*Motivation
*Focus
*De-stress
*Positive

So this month, to start this year off to a bang!
I am doing a 30 day challenge.
Made up of three different challenges.

1st Challenge...
Daily to do lists.
I find that I achieve more of a evening when I get home from work if I have it all written down.
I write down about 10 things each day that I wish to achieve,
Sure there are going to be day that I may not get everything done,
But I at least have it written down and in my head that I need to get it marked off.

I think the reason why having a daily today list works so well is because I hate not seeing everything ticked off.
4 Days in and it is working very well,
I feel that I have achieved more of a evening when I have gotten home from work,
Because I know that those things need to be done so I don't really let myself relax until they are done.

2nd Challenge
Lifestyle Chart
This is a tick chart that I have created.
It is made up on 7 things that I have to strive to do every day for 30 days.
They are...
1: Eat breakfast everyday
2: Eat a salad everyday
3: Exercise for 30 minutes per day
4: Be in bed by 10:30, with lights out by 11pm
5: Say my prayers daily
6: Study my scriptures daily
7: Tidy up my room

Each day that I complete the item I tick it off,
I know that I'm not going to be able to do these everyday,
But I hope to improve how much I do do them,
And strive to make them habits.

Then at the end of the month,
If I have have done well,
Then I get to reward myself.

3rd Challenge
30 Days With Christ
This month my sister J. and myself are doing 30 days of studying different scripture references to do with Christ.
I am so glad that my sister came up with this idea and got me into it.
The scriptures are amazing,
And I love learning about Christ and what he has done with each and every one of us.
I am learning so much and I am so grateful for that.

Other things that I am doing this money is...
*Drinking more water
*Eating less junk food
*Spending less money
*Write in my journal more (aiming for daily)
*Review my life, and deciding on where I want my life to go this year.
Also recording things on one of these...

Love This Place...

I am so lucky to leave in this beautiful place called Tasmania.
I love the fact that a short drive (max of an hour) can take me to a beach, rainforest, mountains, country or city.

I love this place, and my heart will always belong to Tasmania!

-No need to edit these amazing photos!!
Oh how I love summer time!
Gorgeous long summer nights when the sun doesn't go down til 9pm!
